Description

We are seeking an Analyst for our Portfolio Lending Group team who will report to the Managing Director/Healthcare Underwriter who will be based in Dallas, TX. This position provides organizational and analytical support to the Managing Director that delivers various agency and proprietary debt products to healthcare/senior housing clients, including bridge financing to FHA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, CMBS, and mezzanine. Candidate will also be responsible for assisting in managing the deal flow from prospecting to quoting and engagement, continuing through due diligence and the underwriting process.


The Greystone PLG is responsible for all balance-sheet lending activity at the firm, including Bridge and Mezzanine lending. The PLG portfolio typically consists of $500 million to $1 billion in loans at any given time, principally focused on transitional financing provided with a view towards exit via permanent financing provided by Greystone via its Fannie, Freddie and FHA lending programs.

Candidates must have a firm comprehension and proven track record with healthcare properties to perform the following tasks:


  • Direct professional communication with our clients, outside legal counsel, and warehouse lenders

  • Responsible for maintaining the due diligence checklist by working with the borrower group in the underwriting process;

  • Work closely with borrowers, property management agents and Greystone to analyze the financial and operating statements provided, including spreading the various financials received for analysis purposes;

  • Assist Senior Underwriters in the preparation of the credit narrative (typically a 15-25 pg Word doc)

  • Assisting the VP-Asset Manager on spreading compliance spreads for our existing portfolio of loans.

  • Understand loan documentation and real estate on a business level;

  • Familiarity with third party reports such as Physical Needs Assessments, Appraisals, Phase I, Seismic Reports and Broker Opinion of Value.

Experience, Skills and Abilities Required

  • A Bachelor’s degree in: Finance, Accounting or Business Administration

  • Strong accounting skills are a plus

  • At least 1-3 years of relevant real estate lending, asset management or banking experience

  • Strong verbal and electronic communication skills with well-developed negotiating skills are essential

  • An ability to exercise intellectual honesty when presenting information

  • Ability to navigate special projects as assigned with minimal oversight

  • Consistently produces at a high level with a minimum of supervision or revision necessary

  • Participates in special projects and shows flexibility in providing additional insight when needed.

  • Consistently produces work that is of high quality

  • Coordinate with other Greystone departments such as Finance, Legal, Accounting, Loan Servicing, etc.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, with an emphasis on: Excel, Word and PowerPoint
