Description
Working with the Senior Real Estate Analyst, Division President, and Executive Leadership teams, the Real Estate Analyst will be exposed to all aspects of the residential development and homebuilding business while working to support and improve operational efficiencies.
Your Key Deliverables
The Real Estate Analyst is responsible for market research and operational/financial analysis pertaining to the Austin home building and community development business group. The Real Estate Analyst is expected to maintain and improve operational efficiency tools, as well as operate in a team environment. Real Estate Analyst will also support efforts on valuation and acquisition due diligence exercises, market reviews/studies, and new business initiatives and segments.
Work with the Vice President of Operations, Vice President of Sales and Marketing and other members of the Housing group to provide real estate analysis, market research, and internal reporting.
Assist with divisional and market analysis for presentation to corporate leadership.
Assist with financial analysis of development and investment opportunities, including the creation of detailed pro-forma and financial models on a community level; actively maintain the models to ensure they’re accurate and up to date.
Maintain and update current operational reports and tools while striving to improve the structure or process of these reports.
Assist in annual business plan process, which includes discounted cash flows for divisional assets and communication of key metrics and financial indicators to leadership.
Gather, compile, investigate, and analyze market data to aid in the evaluation of business objectives as well as identify potential investment opportunities.
Analyze financial information from various sources to forecast business, industry, and economic conditions.
Assist in the due diligence on acquisitions under contract, and develop documentation and recommendations on key findings that may affect the return and financial performance of the proposed deal.
Establishes critical timelines and deadlines for tasks and activities related to the projects on hand.
Assist with due diligence analysis and capital expenditure project management as needed.
Provide support on special projects and initiatives, as needed.
Must Haves
Four year degree with preferred major in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Real Estate, or other business-related field.
2-5 years of experience in a financial analysis, business analysis, or operational real estate role.
Strong Analytical Skills - including the ability to understand, read, interpret, and analyze financial statements.
Experience with financial modeling, sensitivity analysis, forecasting, and budgeting
Advanced MS Excel knowledge – including, but not limited to: Vlookups, logical tests and algorithms, pivot tables, conditional formatting, and the ability to convey data by using graphs.
Ability to comprehend, analyze, interpret, and summarize various types of real estate documents, including leases and contracts.
Ability to effectively prioritize projects/tasks.
High level of organizational skills and attention to detail. Takes pride in producing accurate, precise, and timely work product.
Ability to work in a cross-departmental environment, offering support across multiple areas of the business.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Nice to Haves
Experience underwriting ground-up development projects beneficial but not required.
Interest in or actively pursuing an MBA or CFA/CPA designation a plus.
Previous experience in Real Estate preferred.
